I hope to have this to wear for Anthrocon 2012: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It will be the first thing I make for ME since I got into the daily knitting routine in November
3/1/12 This pattern is evil! I have had to rip out and restart this 5 times! TODAY! I finally got it started, but it hasn’t stopped being troublesome. For every repeat of the eyelets, I have to pull out approximately 8 rows of garter stitch. But even if progress is slow, progress is being made! But no more trying to knit on the bus. That makes me screw up even more that TV.
3/4/12 I’m making progress. I’m up to 12 pattern repeats. Frustratingly, the last two repeats have had some kind of mistake. I’m not sure WHAT has happened, but even though I’m being extra careful, I keep ending up short one stitch at the end of the eyelet row. It’s easy to fudge it, but I’m concerned, because I’m willing to rip out up to four rows at a time, but not 8 or more!
3/7/12 I found a dropped stitch two inches down. I had to rip out a LOT, but at least I won’t end up with a ladder running down half of my shawl! It didn’t hurt that I’d just had a crummy phone call, and the destruction actually felt good.
3/13/12 I’m up to 20 of the 30 planned pattern repeats. I’m not sure if that is going to be the finished size or not, as it’s working up a lot faster than I thought it would. Especially after all the difficulty I had at the beginning. If I don’t like the size, I’ll just add a few more repeats.
4/27/12 The shawl is finally off the needles. Two lazy weeks have resulted in 3/4 of the shawl being fringed. I really need to just commit to one solid hour so I can finish this thing! It’s so awesome, I want to show it off!
5/12/12 It took me forever to get all the fringe done! But I finished it this afternoon. It will have to sit in hiding for one month, until Anthrocon. Then it will get to go out in public! GASP
