This is for Sage Firefox, also known as my roommate and one of my closest friends. She needs something to keep her Tarot cards in, rather than the box they came with. I bought some bamboo silk yarn because…silk! And what better material for a red panda than bamboo? And purple is just her favorite color. It was a perfect combination. I’ve been trying to motivate myself to make this ever since I got the yarn before giftmas 2011. the Selfish Knitters & Crocheters group May flowers KAL was just the inspiration I needed to pick up this plant-fiber yarn and get to work.

5/1/12 Cast on 42 stitches. Knit in garter stitch. Slip first stitch in each row to make it easier to sew together later.

5/8/12 I’ve worked enough in the garter stitch that she wants her bag made from. I added a row of simple YO eyelets to put a drawstring through. Now to add an inch to the top of the bag, and sew it all together!

5/9/12 It’s off the needles! It only took me a week to manage a square of garter stitch. Distractions are taking over my knitting time again…. But now I have to find where my y arn needles wandered off to this time. Two seams and a drawstring left to go…

5/11/12 Done! Finished! Sewn and laced. Photos taken and posted. I actually participated in my first KAL. Feeling very accomplished
