Beautiful pattern! I love the way the pineapples are framed in that raised “rope”.

I had to rip back one round twice, I think, and another round once. Each time, it was some tiny, thoughtless mistake-- forgetting to make a chain space, for instance. I tend to make mistakes like that with pineapples or any other “mesh” pattern. My attention wanders (for just one second-- long enough to make a mistake!) more often with pineapples than when I have to keep a closer mental count on what I’m doing.

I wasn’t sure how well the texture would show with a darker thread like this, but I think it looks good (and will probably look even better once it’s been blocked). I probably wouldn’t work a textured pattern with anything much darker that this, though-- like the navy blue or black thread in my stash. I’ll save those for a flatter, more “open” pattern, where I won’t be putting extra effort into textures that might not show up in the finished product.

I used nearly a full ball (350 yards) for this doily, but there was enough leeway to finger-wind a small ball for the scrap jar. If I make this again, I’d feel pretty confident that 350 yards of size 10 thread would be enough.
