Ok, I’m taking the plunge! Toe-up socks, worked TAAT with magic loop on a single needle! This is my first try at socks with lightweight yarn and first time working toe-up. I tried a pair of worsted-weight top-down socks, but I messed up when I was decreasing for the toe and ended up frogging them, so if I manage to finish these, they’ll be my first finished pair of socks!

I don’t have much experience swatching for gauge, but I tried this time. I think the size 0 might’ve been a tad too small… It was looking like 9 sts per inch instead of 8, so I’m going to try a size 1 needle instead and just hope for the best. (Maybe working at a slightly tighter gauge makes more durable socks, but fewer stitches seems better for a first try. …I don’t really know what I’m doing, yet!)

The yarn isn’t anything particularly special-- just some that I found in a clearance bin. The colors are pretty enough, though, so maybe they’ll keep me interested. Besides, I didn’t want to “waste” the stashed sock yarns I liked better on this first pair, since I’m pretty sure I’ll hit a few speed bumps along the way!

Wish me luck! ;)

Meh, this didn’t work out. I think I need to try a different pattern… These have been in time-out so long that it’s not worth trying to pick them back up again. Will be frogging.
