This pattern is done in double knitting. The pattern doesn’t tell you this but if you knit exactly the way the pattern tells you to, eventually you’ll see that it makes sense.

Basically you’re knitting both sides of the cozy at the same time. The knit stitches are one side of the cozy and the purlwise slipped stitches are the other side.

WARNING: BO losely! I didn’t know this and now the sock opening is too tight to fit my DS into! >:(
