Worked out stitch multiples for this pattern. Pattern is a multiple of 8 for a beginning chain.
Making customized chair seat cover for our cat Abigail’s favorite chair. Seat measures 18” increasing to 21” wide by 21.5” deep.
Crocheted a pattern swatch, measured, and made calculations. Need to increase width by 3” over 40 rows.
Beginning chain was 48 stitches.
At row 20 increased by 4 stitches, one each in 4 middle sections.
At row 29 increased by 5 stitches, one each in remaining 5 middle sections.
At row 35 increased by 2 stitches in each of 2 end sections.
Did 44 rows total.
Followed pattern instructions for SC across top and bottom.
SC in each row down both long sides and 3 SC in each corner.
Holding right sides together, joined with a slip stitch across 2 sides then flipped right side out again.
Made two panels as described above. Ran out of yarn in Prairie color on final SC on long side and for joining. Used Homespun stash in other colors. Harvest blended very well but I thought Bourbon was too obvious a color difference. Decided to rip out Bourbon color and use Edwardian instead. Much less noticeable.
Originally joined the back and 1 long side. Since I had to rip out, determined I wanted the back to be open instead of the front. So 2nd time I joined 1 long side and across the front. This allows the layers to be flipped open and filled with a bed buddy or heating pad for warmth (and have the cord stick out the back which is not joined). The two panels joined together, plus the nature of the basketweave stitch make this a nice cushy chair pad that Abigail loves.
