Notes

Motivated by my need to replace my failing 19 year old dishcloths and encouraged by the handweavers guild to which I belong, I made myself a square pin loom and then my first dishcloth with some stash cotton.

The loom: I made mine a 14” square. That’s the size measuring at the pins, the frame is 15.5” square. Made from basic materials: 1-1/2” wide x 3/4” thick wood for the frame, put together with pocket screws, using alternating black and white paneling nails placed at every 1/4 inch, 57 pins per side. I next plan to make two more, measuring 12 inches and 10.5 inches square. I modeled my loom from Hazel Rose looms.

The dishcloth I wove based on the continuous strand weaving method. It is made in continuous strand plain weave on the bias. I used cotton in my stash and from having frogged previous projects.

The loom was made and the dishcloth was woven in the same day.
