Want to make this big enough for a bed blanket out of Red Heart in Grey Heather (bought charcoal - nice dark grey in 7 oz instead of 5 oz for heather) dark like coffee color, but in grey family, for bedroom.
Pattern is multiple of 8 for beginning chain. Made swatch, measured, and calculated need 288 stitches for beginning chain to make desired width.
12/15/17 - Finished about 6 rows. Laid over bed and it was WAY too wide.
12/20/17 - Ripped everything out and reduced beginning chain to 248 stitches.
12/21/17 - 12 rows complete. Already 1 full skein down. Still seems a bit wider than necessary. Dread ripping out again but think I might need to. Made with Red Heart so this will be even more drapey after laundering and thus will likely grow even wider.
11/23/18 - I ripped everything out on this blanket several times to get the right width. Ended up settling on a beginning chain of 200 which is actually a little narrower than I’d like (I should have left well enough alone), but knowing how this yarn eases up a lot after laundering I’m crossing my fingers that it will end up perfect. Have finished the first 12 skeins. Will take 3 more, maybe part of 4, to finish completely. Nearly there!
12/14/18 - Finished with just 0.2 oz left of the 15th skein. Yay! I’ll return the extra skein. Bordered with 2 rounds of SC and 1 round of Reverse SC, or Crab Stitch. Easily covers the bed. Looks wonderful. Very soft, very warm.
Just realized it will be a year ago tomorrow that I started this. So glad it is finished! Love it! Pattern is incredibly easy to memorize, so it’s a good one to work on while listening to audio books, podcasts, or watching TV.
Top edge and bottom edge finished with decrease stitch as called for in pattern. Along sides: 1 SC in each row (somewhat loosely done), which I worried might be too tight but it actually kept it from getting wavy edges without needing to decrease the hook size.
I seriously love Red Heart for these kinds of projects. Laundered by machine washing in hot water with liquid detergent and fabric softener (not gentle cycle) and drying on normal heat in dryer. Came out magically delicious, as usual.
