3/2/2019 - 16 inch cable with 2 needles for 24”. German twisted cast on. CO 121 to do invisible join in the round. I read and watched all kinds of things about how to best estimate the length of the tail. All of them resulted in a gross overestimation so I did and undid the cast on several times. Finally settled on 4 arm lengths for 121 stitches and was left with a reasonable amount left to weave in. Will work pattern until yarn is gone.
3/3/2019 - Done with purple. About half done with neutrals.
3/15/2019 - Knitting complete. When comparing the amount of yarn I had to what the pattern called for it did not properly register that holding the yarn double as called for in the pattern - which I did not do - meant that my yardage was going to go a lot farther. It is huge.
When I had about 4 arm lengths of yarn left, started bind off. Since I did a stretchy cast on I wanted to do a stretchy bind off. Ran out of yarn a little more than halfway through the bind off (still leaving a tail) so I switched to the yarn-less bind off. Interestingly, no noticeable difference in stretchiness between the two.
Soaked in hot water with fabric softener and laid flat to dry. I really like the subtlety of the appearance of the gradient. Yard after yard of stockinette was good practice. It doesn’t have the same fuzzy halo effect of the Rowan Kidsilk Haze but that’s ok. It is so light, drapey, and soft! I like the subtle transition of colors and had the purple section worked as I had intended, it would be even better.
3/16/2019 - Gave to Ronda. Got asked to make 3 more.
