This is a great little sweater! I measured my dog’s chest size and the size was an accurate fit. That said, it didn’t take into account the length of the sweater, which is kind of short for my dog. It looks more like a crop top. So, I decided to make another one, same cast on, but longer body. I also decided to amend the pattern to work it in the round, as I despise seaming pieces together.
Amendments for knitting in the round:
On size 6 circular needles, CO 104, pm.
Rows 1-10: work k2, p2 rib
Switch to size 8 circular needles.
Rows 11 & 12: ss
Rows 13-25: k1, work 14 stitch snowflake chart x 4, k1, pm, k to end (catching cc floats every 5 stitches along the way).
Rows 26-33: ss
Row 34-38: Even Rows/decreases--k 58 stitches for back of work, sm, k1, ask, k across to last 3 stitches, then k2tog, k1.Odd rows--k around.
Row 38: knit 58 stitches between markers, then remove 32 stitches for “underside” onto stitch holder.
Continue working back stitches, ss until piece measures 10.5 inches.
Move 32 stitches for underside onto straight size 8 needles, and continue decreases every right side row. Begin pattern for snowflake when underside contains 25 stitches.
After snowflake pattern is complete, ss until underside contains 10 stitches. Move stitches onto circular needle to join with back. SS two rows.
Work 8 rows k2,p2 ribbing in the round for collar. BO.
Worked great for me, with no sewing needed, and very few ends to weave in.
