All Decil ever wanted was to be green and orange, with huge and impressive ears, and a perfect shiny tooth. Unfortunately, some inept person in production made several “executive” decisions. Now, poor Decil is having to come to terms with his new reality…
For Malabrigo March. You know you’re lazy when you use 2.25mm needles with worsted weight yarn because it’s the only size you have a matched set with. That said, I love the super thick fabric it created. Increases and decreases make my fingers hurt and my shoulder doesn’t like me much, but nothing is getting through this guy. His stuffing will be secure.
Notes:
♦ Used two circulars throughout. Next time, I’ll be sure to have my yarn set up for two-at-a-time.
♦ Picked up stitches for mouth through back loop for a more pronounced line.
♦ Used 12mm safety eyes.
♦ I forgot to weigh him before stuffing, but he weighs 90g stuffed and I estimate about 40-50 of that is fill.
♦I soaked and shaped the pieces to get them to relax a little before stuffing. I made a point of not over-stuffing, which I would normally do to compensate for future wear. He’s mine though, so I’m not worried about abuse. :)
♦ Whip-stitch throughout. First the body, then I stitched all the pieces closed, then attached them to the body.
♦ Pattern was easy to follow, though the finishing is very “just do what you want”, which some may find daunting.
3/28/14 - This guy was a very quick knit, I was just lazy most days. I left off the ears and after playing with the tooth, decided I preferred it off as well. The turn of his mouth gives him a rather melancholy appearance. One arm is also one row lower than the other, but oh well. No one is perfect.
3/22/14 - Body and arms are done. After looking through some other projects, I think I may leave off the ears, they make him look more robot and less monster.
