Notes

A test for Ravenater.

Notes:

•Used a twisted german cast-on and size 4 needles for the bottom ribbing.

•Made the i-cord on size 4 DPNs and decreased to 4 stitched after 2 rows.

•Found that picking-up and knitting/purling caused some bunching when picking up and knitting the next stitches, because of the height discrepancy. Half way through the back, I started pick up the stitches, but not knitting them until after I turned. Much smoother transition for me.

• I ended up picking up too many stitches for the back ribbing, which made it too high and loose. Plan out your stitches ahead of time to make sure they match with a 2:3 ratio of bound off stitches.

This is such a cute summer top (which covers 10 out of 12 months in Florida). It was my first cabling and other than the cotton being a bit inflexible, I had no issues. There was a bit of consternation with picking up stitches, but much of that revolves around my lack of expertise.

My model wasn’t in the mood to model, so I don’t have very nice shots. She is more of 4/5 in size right now, so this top is a touch big on her everywhere except the belly (she fills that out nicely). The looser back ribbing is more pronounced for that reason, as well.
