01-19-2023 Tested Pattern

Tested out pattern to do estimates of chains needed.
Found an error in Row 1; use Row 7.

01-19-2023 Calculating chains

The yarns I’m using are quite close to the test yarn. Each motif is two inches wide. 26 motifs should be about 50 inches.
Beginning chain about 12 stitches / motif plus 3 more for final 3 DC

Chain is 315

Maybe a thread marker every 24th.

01-23-2023 Added the DC row afterwards and it’s looking okay

I was so eager to get the first rows started that I totally forgot that the first row was 100% double crochets. I finished Row 2 which wasn’t easy built on a chain rather than double crochets.

I didn’t see the mistake until the end of the row. I slip stitched down the side, turned the piece over and did the double crochet row on another side of the chain. It looks decent enough. The heather look of the yarn hides it pretty effectively.

01-26-2023 First 2 stripes done in both colors

Dark Blue Each strip took 134 yards, total yardage of Bentley Blue should give me 13 stripes.

Light Blue SO Heritage took only 63 yards per strip. Plenty of yarn because it’s less kinked.

27 strips in all with 13 stripes.
Each strips about 2 inches
Total estimated size = 54 inches

Was pretty surprised to have my grandchildren want this afghan. It doesn’t have bright colors or anything.
