Notes

Working larger pattern size at tighter gauge since I prefer stranding with Rauma’s Finullgarn at 7.5sts per inch. Doing the math, this meant going up to XL size instructions on smaller needles. I used some suggested yarn colors and some of my own choices.
Interesting construction: worked top down, in the round with short rows as well as increases in the neck ribbing which is a garter stitch rib, making for some interesting rows and rounds.
I dislike 3 color stranding but managed with one color in one hand and two in the other. Those are not my favorite rounds to knit, but results are good.
Yoke finished, divided into body and sleeves and started knitting body.

5/14/15
It is raining today so I get to knit a bit! I finished the last of the body motifs that the pattern called for and have to decide exactly how to treat the lower ribbed band. I have a steek in the center of the body for the button band but the designer suggests knitting the lower band flat. I was slightly surprised at this so I’m considering whether to follow this instruction or not. The neck ribbing is in the round so the steek would fold back there but not the lower edge ribbing if I knit the lower part flat. The steek is only 6 stitches, so I’m also thinking about how I want to finish that to look the tidiest. I like to “sandwich” the steek by creating a facing but this particular button band ribbing will be interesting for this. I’m still thinking so maybe I’ll work on the sleeves in the meantime!

5/20/15
Decided to knit the bottom ribbing in the round so that the steek and ‘sandwiching’ would match the upper area. I like how this turned out.

5/29/15
Finished first sleeve and love the way it fits. After the cuff ribbing I used an I-Cord bind off to match the i-cord at the neckline.

6/10/15
Time to weave in all those color changes! This is why I prefer to spit splice when I can but this yarn isn’t very sticky, so now I deal with weaving in ends for a day! I still love this yarn, so I think I’m just lazy.

6/21/15
Finishing on this one took a long time. I sandwiched the steeks and then did all over bind off of bottom edge and front bands in i-Cord to match the neck line. There were a lot of needles involved at one time!!!

If I were to knit again, I would have done a provisional cast on for the neck and then a continuous i-Cord bind off for all edges would have been easier. It looks better on me than flat which is the sign of a good fitted sweater for a full figured gal like me. The pewter buttons were in my collection. I can’t wait to wear this in the fall! Thank you Madeleine for such a nicely designed pattern!
