“Ägget Grått - The Gray Egg was originaly designed by Kerstin Olsson 1963. The hat was recreated by Solveig Gustafsson in 2007 and the pullover/cardigan by Pernille Silfverberg and Solveig Gustafsson in 2016.”
Cast on and am loving the MC of this one and can’t wait to get into the yoke colors that are so wonderfully gradient in subtle pale grays to black.

March 15, 2017
Finished short rows and raglan increases. Separated sleeves from body.
March 22, 2017
Stupid mistake in the waist shaping caused me to frog 3” of body. Arg! I had to fix this and reknit. Now back on track. About 8 inches of SS body knitting done.
March 26, 2017
Finished knitting body except for the lower ribbing. Switching to sleeve knitting with new cake of yarn.
March 29, 2017
Finished first sleeve. On to the next.
April 3, 2017
Finished second sleeve. Now time to start the bottom ribbing which is time consuming.
April 6, 2017
Finished knitting lower ribbing and BO with the sewn kitchener bind off. Wove in all the yarn ends and sweater went for a long soak in the sink and is now on blocking board. Photos to follow.
Amazed as always that the blocking transforms the knitting so much, especially with the loft of the angora blend and the lovely yoke colorwork that just lifts up off the plane of knitting.
NOTE: this “Egg” design - unlike the original Egg and the Red Egg, aka New Azalea - did not have that chart puzzle where the repeats did not match up with the number of stitches on just a couple of rows. I know all ‘Egg’ designs are not identical, but it was curious to note all the same.
Final weight of garment is 279 grams.
