I am using various weight 4 yarns leftover from other projects. The color way was chosen based on the unicorn stick-on tile picture my granddaughter made for me. She wanted a doll with similar colors.
The pattern is very detailed and extremely well written.
Very easy to follow.
TIP: For experts, this is a no brainier, but I found myself making mistakes in increase / decrease around the neck area. So I started leaving the stitch markers at the start of decrease/increase rows, so if I had to undo, it was easy to frog to the right place.
Since I am using a heavier yarn than suggested, this is turning out to be a big doll.
11/22/2016 Put this project on the back burner, did not realize that it has been 9 months since I put it away. Have made another blanket in between and now I am back on it. Made one arm and started on one leg.
Note This is not a take along project, even though it appeared to be. You have to stuff the body parts as you crochet along. You can make the dress, that can be done anywhere. Wish one could stuff the toys like they do in make your own bear shops which blows stuffing into the toy !
The hair cap fitted the head well, but for some reason it did not cover the back of the head (perhaps the way I stuffed, made a difference ). So I added a few more short rows to cover till the nape. I could have tapered it slightly for a better fit but for now, will just tuck under while stitching.
Sahana’s baby sister fell in love with the half made doll and has laid claim on it. Will have to make one more for her. No stripes on legs this time, took way too long !
