Update on the yarn: It has turned out to be the softest blanket after 3 years of extensive use.
One blanket that got the most use and still loved after 4 years is the quick purple blanket I made in a weekend. There was a request for another like it for the 1 yr old.
I liked the quick and thick yarn, but it turned out difficult to work with. Starting chain was tight and difficult to insert the hook in.
So started with foundation single crochet. Measured 36” which was my intended width, but after four rows, it measured 42 ! Since size was not that important for this project. In future I would make a reasonable size swatch for sizing. In fact, I won’t crochet with these good looking fluffy yarns :).
I also ended up with a tangled mess of my first skein. I had pulled the thread from inside, the label fell off and somehow the skein was all loose and got tangled. I spent two hours untangling. I later noticed that the label was taped with masking tape. It was either a return or was tangled and the store put it back as best as they could. The second skein is working out ok.
Tried a few patterns suggested by the Lion Brand website for this yarn, but the pattern really does not show and counting chains was almost impossible. So just used alternating rows of hdc and dc, back loops.
Tip: weave the ends as soon as you cut the yarn or leave an extra 2-3” to weave in later. The yarn ends unravel if left For some time.
Pro: the yarn is super soft and looks fabulous. Very forgiving if you make mistakes, you can’t even see the stitches, never mind the mistakes.
Con: Slightly difficult to work with. Knitting might have been easier since you have to feel the yarn to find your chain to insert the hook.
Just saw some notes on the knitting with this yarn, as difficult as crochet.
