I bought this hat pattern to join the KAL on the WoollyWormhead board but then I ran out of time….why are none of us surprised by this?! Anyway, Lou still wanted the hat and I still wanted to make it so I got cracking on Saturday. I’d never done a provisional cast-on before but after watching a couple of videos on YouTube, I cracked it.

I think the plastic I used for the brim (a milk carton) was a bit too thin and I think I got a bit carried away with the cutting of it because I think it could do with being a bit sturdier and bigger but Lou tells me that all of the cool kids wear their hats like this.

I had a bit of a disaster when my needle snapped while knitting the decreases, then missed a couple of dropped stitches but all have been saved now. I also ran out of yarn but luckily I had some similar Woolmeise hidden in my stash and I don’t think it is a bad match…although the birds eye view photo looks a bit dodgy…
