I have a silly pet theory that a good chunk of life’s most important lessons could be learnt from a few Dr Seuss books. In particular, The Lorax, Oh The Places You’ll Go, and Horton Hears a Who. Possibly also Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are? too.

What to call it.. Whoville? Yopp?

191g used (4g red, 5g Wolle’s rem) = 295y Rastita , 300y Wolles, and approx 12m of the Moss, just for fun (using the listing for the blackberry colour from my stash to calculate yardage. Remember to edit this..)

I need something simple to knit while helping the kids with homework and general ‘mixed attention’ time, and this thing wants me to make it. So here is a nod to dear old Horton, and to Dr Seuss for changing his mind.

(Haven’t seen the film and don’t know how closely it resembles the book, so I’m thinking only of the book here.)

Working loosely on 3.75’s, so basically 4mm.
Yardage wise, starting with 98g (~290m/310y) WCCC, and 99g (~294m/320y) of Malabrigo, and a few grams of Rosy Green Wool for highlights. The Rastita is listed as DK, but they all feel fairly similar to me, roughly sport weight.

The Wolle’s greydient is for Horton, and the Rastita red is for the clover which holds the Whos’ speck.

• 60g of red and 64g of Wolle’s remaining at the end of the 5 turquoise dotstripes in the middle of the big red section.
• 37g red rem end of biggest red section, of which 6g used to make the last 8 rows.
• 36g green, 35g red when starting kangaroo tracks. 25g red after tracks.

Wolle’s:
1st colour change 4 ridges after Moss dots.
2nd change in the block of dots within the big red band.
3rd change 2 ridges into the big green band.
4th change 10th ridge in the big green band.
5th change start of kangaroo tracks.
6th 2 ridges after tracks. (25g rem)
