I had been planning a 1 or 2 colour design for dyedianadye’s Springtime Speckle Party but when I opened the package to this trio, I knew I wouldn’t be able to leave anyone out.
This yarn was held up in a shipping void for a couple of months, during which time I kept having more ideas about what I wanted to try this it, and the list got scarily long -
- speckle-friendly lace
- semi circular
- narrow wedges, maybe with some bias in the wedges to show off any longer sections of cooour splash, and also to play with the contrast between the skeins when changing yarns
- some mesh (because mesh and speckle work so well together)
- some mosaic and or cable slip stripes to blend colours between changes
- mix of solid and open fabric
- Expanding textured lace
There is also a crescent I charted up just in case..
So this design process has involved lots of backwarding and forwarding as I tried one thing, then another, then replaced elements with others, and so on, trying to get the elements balanced and hopefully complementing each other rather than competing. We shall see!
I will say the yarn has held up remarkably well to all the tinking and frogging, especially for a tussah single.
The photos from the folk museum are from where we were lucky enough to visit LittleGreenDragon in Sweden in 2018.
