Notes

Want to make this sweater. Need to order a cotton/Merino blend. Looks like I will need 957 to 1079 yds +to add length.

Swatching

June 13, 2024

US 4 is too dense 23 stitches/4”
US 6 seems a bit too loosey-goosey.

Wondering if I can get gauge with US5’s, or size according to the gauge.

Decided to size-down and go with the US5’s.

Set-up Round. Sketched on paper to find that the correct way to read these directions is to repeat the directions within the brackets for a total of 3 times.
On to the short row shaping.

Short Rows

BOR is center back! Thanks to information sent to me by the designer. I was confused and contacted her with a photo of my markers and labels. She was so nice to respond quickly.

Working the fourth repeat.

I-Cord Bind Off Very Pink Knits for the sleeves.

Very Pink Knits Cable Cast On for adding underarm stitches.

When I do the cable cast on, the stitches are already on the left needle. The pattern shows to move the stitches to the left needle. I will have to look at the instructions again.
Maybe I need to bind off the sleeve stitches first under the heading “SLEEVE SEPARATION.”

I’ll try that and then continue with “Sleeve Separation: 2.1.”
Still not sure if I’m knitting according to the pattern, but I made it work the best I know how. Currently knitting the stockinette body with purl stitches on the sides.

Did not want to contact the designer for clarification again. (I feel like a novice knitter. LOL) I just made it work.

Some of the skeins look bluer than others. And there are dark spots that read black. So I am breaking up the colors by helical knitting, using two cakes, every other round of knitting the body.

Fitting. Looks good. Almost ready to work the ribbing.
Move to barber cords to see if it grows when wet.

Soaked 15 minutes in cold water and Eucalan. Lost lots of dye in the bath. Rolled in towel to blot out extra water. Laying flat to dry; no pinning at this point.

Looks OK, no “growing” in length for this tee when dried flat.

July 4, 2024

Back to the needles it goes. No difference in length. Ready to begin the ribbing. Omitting second round of the short row shaping.

July 6, 2024 Wet Blocking

I was just going to wear it without blocking a second time. I already blocked it to determine the length before beginning the ribbing.

I think that I could use a bit more room in this tee, so I will block and pin this time. See photo.

It is soaking in a cold bath with Eucalan. Will roll in a towel and then pin to shape.

July 7, 2024

Very good fit. Blocking makes all the difference!

July 8, 2024

I thought I would have to wear a tank top underneath, but, in looking again this morning, it’s ok without.
