Swatching and Ideas

Finally received the yarn and swatched two sample squares but was unable to match gauge. I am giving up on gauge and contemplating adding some 5/2 pure bamboo for structure and drape as the Remix Light yarn is very light and airy and not very drapey. I will then have to go up one or two needle sizes to a US 9 or 10 to achieve the open knit drapey effect. I also want to add a split hem that is longer in the back and short in the front.

Split Hem:Knit to desired length (I am thinking mid hip) and divide stitches between the front and back (8-10 extra stitches for back and I will have to adjust purl bump placement as well so it lines up with split) Place back stitches on scrap yarn. This will be worked back and forth. Slip first stitch purl wise and continue in st st. Continue this method for 2” (15 sts) in the front and for 4” (30sts) in the back. Switch to smaller needles and proceed in k1 p1 ribbing for 2”. Tubular bind off.
Depending on how the edges for this split hem turn out, I may pick up the edge stitches and do a single row to mimic the v neck edging.

Update: I decided I wanted a deeper V neck so I modified the rounds after the “join in the round” portion. I worked 6 more rows before joining in the round as follows. (Size XL only)
Row 1: K2, M1L, knit to one stitch before marker, M1R, K1, SM, Knit to marker, SM, K1, M1L, K1, M1R, knit to two stitches before marker, M1L, K1, M1R, K1, SM, knit to marker, SM, K1, M1L, knit to two stitches before end, M1R, K2
Row 2: Purl across slipping markers
Rows 3-6: repeat rows 1 + 2
Join in round continuing patterns instructions for 6 rounds. You should end up with 6 extra stitches in the front and in the back (98 sts)
