I am fascinated by these hand-dyed yarns! I am so curious about what will happen with this Pocion. The color experience is so different from looking at the twisted skein, to untwisted to wound cake. How will it knit?!

Dithering over needle size. I have swatched some garter in US4, 5, and 6. I think I will go with 5 because it feels a little squishier without being too loose. 4 feels too crisp for me but has more regular definition.
Gauge: 6 sts per inch
vs. pattern at 4 sts per inch
Pattern yarn also has more yardage. Most people using Malabrigo Sock with this pattern are doing US4 needles with one skein and still look to be getting a decent size. Needle sizes range from 2 1/2 to 6. I am hoping to get a result similar to Ericamay: 6 pattern repeats with 1 additional lace = 88” x 18” on US5 needles.

Chomping along. Almost done with 4 pattern repeats. As the rows get longer, I will get slower. I am now tracking grams to see if I can figure out if I will have enough yarn for 6 sets plus the extra lace panel.

Figured out that I would not have enough yarn. Modified the pattern by doing fewer rib rows. I tried to match the section width to the garter section. This will give me enough yarn to do a full lace panel at the end. I am trying to maximize the use of my skein, but I am having a hard time estimating the rate of increase. I am guessing I will have somewhere between 0 to 3 grams left. I am looking forward to finishing tonight and seeing what happens!

I had enough yarn. My remaining yarn is the size of a medium egg, but weighs at 6g. The Elastic Bind Off is very stretchy and does not use as much yarn as other stretchy techniques! I could have knitted a few more rows in the rib sections, and if I had knitted a little tighter, I could have gotten the whole pattern. Ah well. It’s alright. I don’t notice the change in rib section size, so hopefully it won’t look off-balance. I am curious now how it will block out.
DIMENSIONS - UNBLOCKED
oops. I was tired and got caught up in wanting to block it and see what happened.
What happens is the ripples and bumps in the lace netting sections completely disappear once wet. I’m not sure they will come back unless you re-block with golf balls underneath.
From what I recall of it unblocked, this grew quite a bit. Feels soft and light. The rib sections are opened. Stretchiness is more across the width than the length. I did not block it aggressively. I just laid it out and looked to what it seemed to want to do naturally. The only parts I pulled were the net lace sections and that was only to straighten edges and corners.
I am definitely doing this one again with the Malabrigo Sock. I think I will use a size or two down in needles to see how that changes the look and feel. Damn, I love knitting!
DIMENSIONS: BLOCKED
Length: 76 1/2”
Width: 11 1/2”
YARN NOTES
3 ply that looks larger when relaxed. Tight knitting really squeezes it down. Soft Merino feel. This skein of Pocion is very woodsy. Reminds me of the redwoods in Northern California with the shots of orangey-red bark. I purchased the skein because it had some strong teal blue tones, which have all but vanished when it is knitted up. Either it is blending to add to the overall green emphasis, or it will surprise me later!
Lighting makes a big difference on how these colors look. Sometimes they wash out. Other times reddish. My favorite during regular daylight is how bronzey it gets. Looks like the Sumac just beginning to turn with the greens and bronzes, and the pop of red color for the sumac berries.
