Using fingering weight pair instead of a mohair.
CAUTION: Definitely weigh your yarn right away.
. And weigh it again at the halfway mark.
. I came close to 100g with both my skeins.
The LBD is a bit ashy, so will start and reassess a little ways in to see if it is still strong enough to contrast with the Caramel. I think it works - kind of lifts the caramel into a bolder tone.
The Burnt Caramel photographs lighter tan. Hard to color correct, but it is more saturated, leaning red.
“Carrying” yarn
. While I am still contemplating this yarn pairing, I am not cutting the yarn between sections. I just pull out a loop long enough for two tails when I start a new section with the old color.
CDD
. Using Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks, pp 106-7
… This yarn is what I would call ‘bubbly’ the way it was plied, so this CDD method doesn’t noticeably look smoother. But I figured it would be good to practice this improved method to make it my subconscious default.
The garter feels more dense than the mosaic from the last Minimalist project. I think this base could go up a needle size. I’m still going to continue as per pattern just to see how it turns out.
This base feels like it holds dimensionality well. I’m curious how it will wet block! Yes, it flattened. But it still has good definition.
