Notes

Do a reverse order of the one I made mom and give to Aunt Mary!

. Link to first Deep End project

. Coast used single (not held double)

. Remember to use bamboo tips (too slippery for metal)

. I like the modified version with a mix of st st and garter vs all garter

CAST-ON
. First project used a two-strand long-tail. The trick is remember which end is the active strand. Means I have two extra tails to weave in, but it was worth not having the hassle of estimating the length correctly.
. This second project used JSSCO with a US 4

Weaving Ends
. After working about 20 rows of a new color, going back and weaving ends
. The Coast ends like to creep up. It’s sticky enough that as I move around, the ends will appear up by the needle.
. Using ends to smooth transitions along the edge

Bind-Offs
. First Project used US 8 with a simple bind-off to match the long-tail CO, because Coast does not have stretch
. However … when blocking my first Coast Deep End, some of this loose method looks wonky. My note-to-self cautions finding a different bind-off that looks cleaner yet has stretch.
. Used Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks pp. 172-175
… US 5 for the sections
… US 6 for the longer bind-off

Also from first Deep End:
The first three sections felt like forever. They use just under half a cake of the Coast. The second three sections could be done with Holst shade bags, but you may be playing yarn chicken with C4. Can definitely get either two identical pieces or do a reverse order second piece with 6 full color cakes.

BLOCKING
. Gently agitate in lukewarm water with shampoo
. Rinse repeatedly in cool water
… very little staining or grey oil water - the ecru remains clean!
. Use Knitblocker pin-combs to straighten top edge
… pin out points if needed or to straighten BO edges
… as piece is drying, it shrinks.
… … took combs out and straightened arcs or blips
… … did not re-pin and let finish drying
