Notes

Excited to be using Anzula Squishy for this test knit. I squirreled the precious away and was glad to rediscover it. My favorite pair of colorwork mitts is in Squishy - warm and super soft.

Because the Au Natural runs a little thin, I will hold it dominant.

FLOATS
. I am trying to avoid catching black floats with the white because I got some little pinches on my fox mitts using the Au Natural. This pattern has only a couple 5-6 stitch spans for the light areas. I think this yarn is fuzzy enough with the cashmere content, I hope it will cling to itself.

. I am catching white floats in the longer black spans. Sometimes skipping 5 stitches, but trying to catch over a few 6-7 stitch areas. I’ll see how it goes on the left mitt and may modify my thinking with the right.

INCREASES
. I am doing the directional increases using M1L (on the left) and M1R (on the right).

NEEDLES
. US 1 throughout
. US 2 for bind-off
. I use a two circ needle method, with about half on one and half on the other.
. The palm is smaller (fewer sts) than the top of the hand.
… This is nice because the motif then wraps a little more around the sides of the hand.

LEFT MITT
. 1st needle is palm side = 28 sts; 2nd = 32 sts
… each divides by 4 (k2:p2)
. Wrist rounds: 24r got me a little more than 2” relaxed, and 2” on the line when around my wrist.

RIGHT MITT
. 1st needle is top of hand = 32; 2nd = 28sts

BIND-OFF
. Using a US 2 dpn, simple bind-off. K2, pass first st gently over second, knit next, pass. Goal is to not be tight, but not let gentler pull be uneven.

BLOCKING
. 15-30 minute soak in cold water with hair conditioner
. gentle massage of stitches once fully saturated
. Still seeing some wonky stitches, especially in transition areas along sides of hands (and changeover of my circs)
… I think this is the Anzula - it is a little slippery on my metal needle tips.

DIMENSIONS - Unblocked
. Left mitt: 8” long by 7.75-8” circ
. Right mitt: 8” long by 7.75” circ

DIMENSIONS - Blocked
. Left mitt: 8” long by 7.75”-ish
. Right mitt: 8” long by 7.5”-ish
… I have a ‘second mitt syndrome’ where I knit the second tighter. Ugh.

YARN:

. Total g: 26.7
. Left mitt: 19.3r = 7.4u
