Turned out really lovely!

Needles: US 3, 4
With Tosh Mo Light, the mohair can get prickly:
. I’ve knit a Musselburgh on US 2’s - but that’s smooth flat stockinette
. I did a Nereid on US 3’s - gartered lace which feels prickly
. Trigonometry on US 6’s - again flat stockinette.
. Elbow River on US 6’s - mix of st st and garter
SWATCH
. Corrected gauge is 22 sts x 60 rows in 4”.
… Chart 2 should be 2” in height (blocked).
. Recommended swatch:
… “I suggest working two repeats wide x one repeat high. You’d therefore be verifying row count at 2” and stitch count at 4”, which should be adequate in this scenario.”
. I just went ahead with starting the pattern and am knitting to a fabric that feels and looks good to me.
… using US 3 for garter, US 4 for mosaic
… Gives me good practice on how Cheryl lays out her pattern, and technique - especially tensioning before the increases.
CAST-ON
. Love this I-cord CO - great video tutorial with good visuals, explanation, and pacing.
. Using US 4 to give the stitches a little more room to stretch. I’m finding that I tend to do that i-cord ‘stem’ rather tightly which causes a curve.
. Switching to US 3 on Row 1.
. See detail shot in Photos
TENSION
. On the edges, I go loose and lift up a little to even the stitches and make sure I’ve got extra length.
. When I do the increases, I try not to pull too much on that leg - just enough to get the new stitch. I also try to not go too tight on the new stitch.
. I also am going more loosely in the increase areas on the row before.
. When I get tightness at the center spine, it looks a little ‘crimped’ or pinched.
Garter Ridge YO trick
. On the garter ridge sets, I was having a hard time with the first YO next to the I-cord stitches. That one kept wanting to jump on top of the next stitch.
. So I just did a M1 loop instead and was careful not to tension it too tightly. Also could just knit it regularly on the WS return.
COLOR #2
. Looks like it’s going to be close on Chart 2
. I have 25g remaining after the 6th Chart 1
. Cheryl said she used 27g on hers. I also ran the numbers on the stitches/grams and figured I would need about that too.
. So just to be safe, I’m cracking my second skein.
… Whew! I used exactly 27g!
… If I had used the second skein itself for the whole piece, I would have had enough - by 1g. Eeek!
I-Cord Bind-off
. Plan a couple hours for this!
. Mine looks a little floopy. I was try to make sure I had enough ease. Hoping the wet-block helps smooth it out.
… Still loopy. I suspect it has something to do with how I tensioned it with that k2tbl. If I were to do it again, I think I would not do the k2tbl. Kinda wish I had experimented early on. Oh well! We shall see how it wears.
. I think if I were to use a different bind-off, I would add another repeat or two of that last section to give it more visual height.
Wet-blocking
. Definitely wet-block this piece. There will be ripples otherwise. I suspect the smaller the cable on the needles, the more scrunching which may cause more ripples.
. I smoothed this out on the boards, didn’t pin.
