Notes

Mmmm…. Brioche!

ALTERNATE BIND-OFF
. See PleinJeu’s Primavera
… “stretchy k2tog, k1, slip left, always knitting base stitch with self colour, then alternating LC and DC”
. I used a US7 dpn

BLOCKING
. Attempting to steam block it
… seams to gently flatten but I am suspicious of it springing back to bulby-ness

YARN
. Pattern uses a fingering as LC, and worsted as DC.
. I’m going to try both in Rios

USAGE
. Volcan 1 (more varied): 103.2gt
. Volcan 2 (darker red): 100.1gt
. Black 1: 95.0gt
. Black 2: 99.0gt

. Volcan total used: 152g
. Black total used: 174g

Alternated Volcan skeins across Sections 4 and 5

NEEDLE
. Pattern is US7
. US 6 because Rios is more of a light worsted? And because with the weight and inherent stretchiness of brioche, I am thinking of going for a firmer fabric?
. Could I even do a US 5?
. Her piece stretches to 49” and that is only with steam blocking. Perhaps I won’t wet block unless I need length? I know Rios grows.

. Used a US 7 dpn for stretchy bind-off

ALTERNATE FINISH
. Would like to know if one can ‘finish’ leaves in final section by short rowing flat by using DPN’s for each leaf.
. Nancy Marchant did this for one leaf at the end of Stegosaurus in the Fresh Brioche book. Terminates at the end of the leaf.
. Is there a way to do each leaf, but leave the edge and come back and finish all the way across?
… No, because it is centered. Maybe if the tip was on the left side?

FUTURE YARN POSSIBILITIES
. I really like the idea of high yardage skeins
. My current estimates for this piece are running 145-165g each color

. Miss Babs Yowza = DK, 560y / 226g
. Miss Babs Big Silk = Worsted, 540 yd / 250g
. BMFA Twisted = DK, 560y / 227g

KAL
. Also qualifies for casual KAL following Skein’s Knit All the Colors #2020knitallthecolors - for March-red
