Notes

Plenty of leftovers from my Sunflower Dreams shawl. If I have 60g of each color, can I get two pair of colorwork mitts from them?!

Anzula Squishy is plumper than the Tosh MCN I used for my previous two Projects
. First pair - full length
. Second pair - short

Part way in on the first mitt and I really, really like the Anzula Squishy fabric! It is so soft, but not loose. The yarn is plump but pliable enough to lock in. I am not seeing much pulling from carrying the yarn.

NEEDLE SIZE
. US 1

CAST-ON
. JSSCO

COLORWORK
. On the previous mitts, the lighter color is dominant (carried below)
. I might try doing the Black as dominant with this pair

FLOATS
. I catch mine at a smaller rate - 3 to 4 sts.
. So I won’t catch on 4 sts or smaller. On 5-8 st spans, I’ll catch half way.
. I also have had problems when I tried ‘stacking’ the catches in the same place vertically. I tried doing a diagonal, but that can be obvious too. So I try to space them a little more.
. I also will try to follow elements of the pattern (like along a branch)
. I’m still new to this, so am open to suggestions and learning resources.

WRIST MOD
. Simple omit of the wrist motif
. Same starting ribbing and st st then direct to main chart

THUMB MOD
. Adding a span of just black at the top of the colorwork to set aside for the thumb
. I found picking up colorwork stitches later for the thumb a little wonky.

FINGER CUFF
. US 2 dpn - simple knit bind-off

THUMBS
. p/u 8 sts + 18 held sts = 26 sts
. knit rest of round
. In the p/u 8, k1, SSK, k2, K2tog, k1, k eor (24 sts)
. k another round
. (k1, p1) rib for 5 rounds
. US 2 dpn - simple knit bind-off

BLOCKING (copy/paste from previous Project)
. (Soaked and laid flat to dry)
. (No bleeding with this yarn)
. (Blocking definitely helps the curl on the cuffs, but I wonder if it will return on the hand/finger cuff with wear. I think the thumbs and wrists will be fine.)
. (Relaxed a little width-wise, but not length)

DIMENSIONS - Unblocked
. Circumference: 7”
. Length: 6.5”

DIMENSIONS - Blocked
. Circumference: 7.38”
. Length: 6.5”

MY SIZE
. Wrist: 6.25”
. Hand: 7.5”

GRAMS
. Black: 25.8g
. Grey: 19.5g
Used a lot less grams than I thought!

PHOTOS
. Bottom mitt photo is unblocked. You can see the little bit of flip in the transition between stockinette and ribbing, especially below the top.
. I’m amazed that you cannot see hardly any pulls from where I was catching strands on the WS!

The fabric is dense but still supple. And soft. I really, really like these.
