Super easy pattern! Not sure if I am getting gauge, but I choose to not worry too much about it. Knitting for a newborn is always a crap shoot, at least baby sweaters are super quick! There are a couple of mods below.

One thing that is kindof annoying is that I decided to stripe the yoke, making a definite RS and WS in garter stitch. The instructions are given for boy-side or girl-side buttonholes, and I had intended to make them on the boy side, even though we don’t know the gender of the baby. However, a little further in, just before the end of the yoke, I realized that my WS is actually the RS, according to the pattern instructions. This puts my buttonholes on the wrong side…or at least not the side I had intended for them! Somehow, I do not think the baby will mind or even notice, if the thing ever fits at all! lol!

Mods:
Buttonholes - bind off 2 on buttonhole row, cast on 2 in the same place on next row. I have chosen big buttons.

Button bands - 5 st garter, rather than 4, to balance the slightly larger buttonholes.

Hem - using contrast colors for hem on body of sweater.

Sleeves - MC 47 rounds, then cuff in contrast.
