Since others talked bad about round 11 of the lace pattern, I decided to use the Lacy V-Stitch from my 400 knitting stitches book instead. CO 198 stitches as this is a 9 stitch repeat. I didn’t realize this pattern would curl up, but it did. So I started over, this time doing a knit, then a purl round as a border.
I didn’t think 7” was long enough, so I added one more lace repeat, which gave me 8” & 10 repeats of the pattern. When I measured the bottom hem, it is too big for the smallest size - 37”. I wasn’t about to start over so I decided to do the rest using a size 4 needle. Placed the halfway marker at stitch 93 on the decrease round.
Then it sat ignored for a few months.
When I got to the underarm BO & flat knitting, I used a size 5 needle tip (I thought I had grabbed a 4, but) for the knit rows & size 3 needle tip for the purls since I purl looser than I knit. This is my first time trying this approach. It works perfectly!
I knit one row on the front after the decreases, then put the 55 stitches on a holder because I thought I might want to knit a neckline border all around.
I did the short rows on the back, but decided to eliminate them - looked crappy. Neckline - I picked up & knit 34 stitches on each side, picked up the stitches from the holders for the back & front (there were 53 stitches, but I K2tog every 6th stitch & ended up with 47). Next round, I purled & for the front section I decreased to 38 stitches. BO knit-wise. I picked up & knit 93 stitches for each armhole, purled two rounds, the BO knit-wise.
