The only change I made was to stop the ribbing earlier at the top. I’m not sure how I feel about the foldover so decided to keep it simple and, lucky for me, Mel is on the same page!
I also want to mention how great the designer was at getting back to me when I had a question about the pattern. I seemingly temporarily lost my ability to read and count when I first started this pattern and had to ask her a really silly question, the answer to which came to me as soon as I’d hit send because obviously. Emily was really understanding, patient and very quick to reply.

To begin with the pattern was really kicking my arse but I seem to have found my rhythm now and I’m really enjoying.
It’s not a difficult pattern but you really need to pay attention as it’s easy to get lost in all that twisted rib. I did find that marking the middle section made it easier to locate myself once I started on the charts. I placed 2 markers at either side of the plain, straight knit columns in the middle to help me navigate where I should stop following one chart and start the next. It’s much more reliable than counting.
The mitts look really striking though. Such a clever way to manipulate the cabling. It’s mesmerising to see.

Absolutely over the moon about these. The pattern is excellent and the end result is just beautiful. I found it slightly tricky to follow to begin with but it all clicked into place after a short while.
