Since I’ve run out of the mohair for Mel’s cardigan, I need something else to entertain myself. I’ve had this yarn for around 10 years. I don’t know why I bought it and it’s a silly amount to try and squeeze a jumper out of it: only 500g/800m of aran weight… Like, why? Why, past me?

I’ve stumbled across this pattern this morning and thought, why the hell not? So here we are and hopefully I’ll finish the yoke tonight.

I swatched with 7mm but the fabric was way too flimsy so I’m going with 6.5mm and size 2 rather than 1. Should be fine as it’s pretty oversized.

Finished the body and got about halfway down a sleeve today. If I crack on early tomorrow I might get it finished.

So far I’m really impressed with the fit on this jumper. I think I might make it again in yarn I care a bit more about though I like this a hell of a lot more than I thought I would!

FINISHED!!! I stayed up a bit too late to get it done but it’s finished and now I just need to block it tomorrow.
I’m very pleased with the finished jumper. Surprisingly so as I wasn’t expecting very much at all from either the pattern or yarn. This was mostly a gamble but it paid off beautifully. I’m sure the fit will change after blocking but judging by my swatch it won’t be much.
