Notes

This CAL will begin on 1\18 and will be worked in the round creating either a square or rectangle blanket. This will be my first blanket cal with Dedri and I’m quite excited. Just received the yarn and I am so pleased with the colors!!
1/18 Working on gauge, then to study the special joins and stitches!
Going with the D hook. I tried larger hooks (E & F), but the motif was too large. First 8 rounds measure 6”, still larger than specified, I hope it will be OK and that I don’t run out of yarn too quickly.
ETA: somewhere along the way, I started using the ‘F’ hook, or maybe I was using it all along, I can’t tell, so I’m sticking with it.

1/19 Done thru 15 rounds!! Piece measures 10”. The pattern is so well written and so thorough with explanations, knock wood, I’m not having any questions or problems…yippee…. Oh my goodness, I am loving how these colors work together!! Dedri is a genius at color work. Can’t wait til the next update!

1/25. Done thru round 20, the texture in this mandala is wonderful!
Part 3 complete except for the optional round of the crab stitch. Not sure how the following rounds will work into that, so I’ll leave for now.

I’m getting the hang of this design or so I thought! First, very clever to work the round after the crab stitch, into the round below. Love the textures in this!!! While on my 3rd side of round 31, I discovered an error on round 30. I was 1 sc short in a shell that I needed for round 31, so I winged it, hoping it doesn’t haunt me in the following rounds.

2/4 17.5” unblocked. Lighting is horrible, I know, but its winter in Ohio.

2/14 Happy Valentine’s day! Just over 22” across. Love, love, love this CAL! I’ve started using stitch markers to note the corner of the round. For my own sanity, I start and finish the round, as I’ve confused myself a few times and frogged a side because I thought I made an error =-O

Ordered one more skein of every color.

2/21 recvd yarn, picking up with round 49.
2/22 finished week 5, just a bit behind, wrist sore, so I will take this time to weave in some ends. 26” across. Love these colors, makes me think of spring and jelly beans ;-)
2/28 week 7 finished, unblocked approx 30”.
3/2 round 63, measures approximately 32.5”, wow, and it’s toasty warm, even at this weight yarn.
3/4 made a caring error on round 65 (fpsc around puff stitch instead of bpsc), so I had to frog the beginning of rnd 66 and all of rnd 65, and start all over, sigh!!!
3/6 finished round 68, end of week 8! 35” across. Oh yes, also had errors on round 67 so I had to frog that round and because I was already started around 68 had frog all of that too so I just spent the last 3 hours doing the last round and a half, but I’m still having fun!
Sunday March 8, round 69, tacking down the yellow ruffle flowers.
March 13, week 9 finished, can’t wait to see what comes next.
March 20, week 10 , approximately 36+“, not blocked so it’s wavy ;-)
March 22 week 11, about 38” not blocked.
March 31, week 12, not blocked and thinking it needs blocked.
April 7, week 13, approximately 41”, not blocked.
Week 14 and these butterflies are awesome!
Week 15, approx 46”, not blocked and wavy in the middle.
Week 16, I’m low on Seafoam not enough for round 102 and out of Iris needed for round 104. So I’m waiting to see what comes next, then use the colors I have left.
Decided to wait til the end to see what Sophie will become. I love the light turquoise (my seafoam color) and seeing that it is used to frame Sophie, I’ll order more of it from knitpicks.
Do order more seafoam and iris, waiting for the order, then to finish the blanket. I have loved this process and now wonder what I’ll do on Sunday morning!
OK, so I received my yarn order today!! :-) Ironically, I went with the knitpicks because I didn’t want to spend $$$ for the yarn Dedri used….I now have spent way more for yarn….on well, I do love this blanket and look forward to seeing it finished.
5/21 have yarn and now have 3 rounds left.
2 rounds to go!!!

May 23, 2015, 7:53pm FINISHED!!!!! 49” blocked. Yes, blocking during the process as Dedri suggested would have been the best bet.

Yarn is getting only 4 stars because as I’ve worked on the blanket the yarn is becoming ‘fuzzyish’ and worn looking. I’ll wash the blanket when done and may change my rating.
