18.06.12 - Currently swatching with 3.00 mm needles in the ribbon lace pattern. I haven’t blocked my swatch yet but it’s looking a little loose.
21.06.12 - 3.00 mm swatch was too loose so I’m trying 2.5 mm. So far it’s looking pretty good but I’ll wait until I’ve pressed it to be sure.
18.06.13 - I’ve picked this up again after a year. Happily worked my way through half a repeat only to discover I hadn’t finished the last repeat when I put it down last summer. Ripped back and fixed it but the going is slow.
12.04.15 - Signed up for the Quince and Co. Linen KAL in the hope it will get me to finish this shrug. I’d love to wear it this summer.
6.06.15 - two and half days left in the KAL and four and a half repeats left in the pattern. Realized today that I’m not sure if I used a smaller needle for the garter stitch cuff at the beginning of the first sleeve. I have a vague memory of a smaller needle in my project bag but the needles for this project have been borrowed more than once while it was sitting around waiting for me.
28.06.15 - Bound Off! I put in a lifeline so I could go back and redo the cuff if I need to use a different needle. Turned out I needed it to go back and add the last line of the pattern repeat. My copy of the pattern is a few years old and had an error. Worked the cuff with a 2.0 mm needle. All that’s left now is to weave in the ends, block and press it and sew up the sleeves. And a little photo shoot of course.
13.08.15 - Tried to sew up the sleeve seems with mattress stitch and got a lumpy mess. I think better pressing and maybe some sewing thread instead of yarn is needed for neat and tidy seams.

Finally taking a second try at seaming. I pressed the selvedges really carefully first to push the line of edge stitches away. So far it is helping.

Finished both seams yesterday. I have a hard time starting seams but I really enjoy how meditative mattress stitch is once I am a little way into it. I’ll give my shrug a final pressing (how I wish I owed a sleeve board) and will try to get some nice picture of it when the weather heats up.
