Knitty ADHD continues - I decided to make a neckwarmer/cowl thingy, loosely based on the eyelet cowl. Another stash dive came up with a luscious skein of handspun that I found at Bendigo a couple of years ago, in the very last tent at the end of the showground (you know the one …)
I wanted this to be seriously warm for my Mum on frosty winter mornings, so I gave up on the idea of eyelets, cast on 130 stitches and knitted four rows of moss stitch before changing to stocking stitch. After about 20cm I did four more rows of moss stitch and cast off.
Not a brilliantly innovative pattern but the colours in the yarn were so spectacular that they didn’t really need anything too fancy in the way of stitch patterns (well that’s my story and I’ms sticking to it). It also meant that I could knit whilst drowning my sorrows watching the Bledisloe Cup and I didn’t lose track of what I was doing.
The cowl was a big hit with Mum and also with her neighbour, who placed an “order” straight away even though we’re coming into spring. I may have started a trend for septuagenarian fashion in the country next winter ….
