Notes

I decided to do two colour. After I’d ordered I wished I’d chosen the pink with cream Belle but hey ho, it’s only going in my bedroom (or the Campervan) so no one else will see it!
Despite the fact that I am using thicker yarn and a bigger hook I am hoping that the starting chain per the pattern (201) will be enough for my bed. It will be a coverlet rather than a tuck in blanket so fingers crossed.
Ok, frogged as not wide enough for my big bed. Trying starting chain of 235 (though I am struggling to know the number of stitches per pattern repeat).
To get the proportions right I am trying to do the first part of the pattern to 2/3 the way up. Quickly realised I would need a lot more yarn so I bought the same again. It will have to be enough.
Ended up with too much yarn, but there is plenty left over for another project and I shouldn’t need to add more.

This was a great project to work on in the evening in front of the tele. It is SO much easier than it looks, mainly because the repeats are short and with a blanket this size there are many of them. I loved being able to randomise the depth of the stripes (so no two blankets will be alike) and I am very happy with my two colour version.
I had miscounted for the repeats across the two parts, but it was easy to lose a stitch or two in the change row and it is impossible to see.
I am an experienced crocheter but I had not seen a border like this before - I honestly believe it will change the way I border any blanket in the future. It is really neat, solid and gives a very professional finish.

I honestly believe that this is a pattern that anyone can get to grips with easily. If you can do a sc and a dc you can make this blanket. No one will believe you are a beginner!

A quick word about the yarn. I was very disappointed when my first order arrived because it looked splitty and a bit dull tbh. However this yarn comes alive when crocheted. It is soft, gives a lovely finish, a decent weight and being a cotton/linen blend can be machine washed without fear of shrinkage or it going hard. I heart It.
