“Springtime” is the most beautiful pale green I’ve ever seen. The subtle shading is gorgeous as it works up into the lace.
I picked green because this project is going to a very special woman in my life who is always giving so much of herself and asks for very little in return. The selfless demands she places on herself to help those around her leave her sometimes exhausted and down, so I wanted a color to remind her that the hope and joy of spring always follows the bleak desolation of winter. Green is also a reminder of His promise of eternal life, and for a deeply Christian woman, I can think of no better color to make a prayer shawl with.
I also chose a light, lacy pattern because she is often chilled, even in summer. So this way she will be able to wear the shawl as a light and comforting wrap in warm months and still bunch it up a bit in winter to wear as a super cozy scarf. In theory. :D I sure hope she likes it!
UPDATE: 8/12/10
Grafting this bad boy together is a pain. Been at it for days now. The kitchener I learned doesn’t look right because it’s for st st, so I had to find a way of doing kitchener for garter so the garter lines on top and bottom of the stole are the same. Got that finally, but now my stitch count is off for some reason, and I know they were even when I first started because I checked. Ugh! Still…nearly finished. I totally can’t wait to have this done!!
