This car is 15 years old and the steering wheel is pretty gross--on hot days, little bits of rubber(?) flake off onto your hand and the steering wheel can get very hot to the touch. This calls for a steering wheel cover!

This is a great project for using up leftover yarn, if you don’t mind ending up with crazy colors. I used size 10½ needles and bulky leftover yarns. I cast on 16 stitches and it ended up only 3” wide instead of 4” so I should’ve cast on 21, but regardless, I’m going to make this work.

I worked single crochet for the edges. One edge has 6 bobble buttons more or less spaced evenly apart, and the other edge has matching loops. This should make it easier to remove/replace it whenever I need to wash away my hand sweat. The inner shelf liner is necessary to prevent the cover from slipping around.

The first yarn (Jubilee) ran out about halfway, and the other three yarns make up the other half.
