Notes

An interesting and straightforward bag pattern, in sage and sand colors. Took only 11 years to get it done… shrug::skin-tone-2

14-May-2021: Finally resumed knitting this bag after it went into hibernation for 11 years. stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye The bottom portion and two panels were complete, so I only needed to finish the other two panels and then the straps.

Original notes from 2010:
I made a few modifications.

For each panel, after making the garter stitch bottom in a square, I switched to a lace pattern. I knit the first and last stitch of every row (1-stitch garter edge) to make seaming easier.

In order to make the top edge straight, when I reached the length of the panel that I wanted, I began decreasing one edge every right-side row.

I attached the panels in the opposite direction from the pattern because of the orientation of the lace stitches.

2021 Notes:
I knit the 3-stitch I-cord edge on the inside/back side after finishing the panels and seams, using the smaller needles. I switched back to the larger needles and picked up 3 stitches from the next panel’s edging for the straps (6-stitch I-cord with a ladder of yarn in back, to later become a 7th column of knit stitches with the help of a crochet hook).

I decided to tie all four straps into one knot. It’s just my preference to not have two separate straps, since one strap is always falling off my shoulder.
