Notes

Evie’s first dress. Started knitting at the end of pregnancy, through our time in NICU and finally maternity leave.

Top of the dress is made with Eli Dress pattern. The skirt is made with the Flora dress pattern (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/flora-dress), following Chart A 8 times (I found anything larger made the skirt too full).

The tricky part is the transition between the two patterns. I’m going off of memory for this one and that’s a bit fuzzy, filled with memories of monitors, tubes, moments of anxiety and fueled by sleep deprivation, so please triple check the numbers for your own project. But what I remember is that I needed to go from 109 sts to 152 sts for Chart A. This meant an increase of 43 sts (or 5.375 sts per panel). So I fudged a bit, making it so that there would be a 5 sts increase per panel (resulting in 40 sts overall) and the evenly spaced the 3 additional increases every other or every 3rd panel.

So that’s the math. How I did it was by turning all the “3” into “2” (k1, p1 into stitch) and turned five of the “5” into “4” (k1, p1, k1, p1 into stitch). This will yield a final of 152 sts.
