errata: the best tip i can give is that you need to mirror your stitch patterns on both sides exactly for it to be symmetrical. i have run across 4 instances so far in the pattern where the stitch is not symmetrical and it doesnt make sense unless you make it that way. these errors have been in the clue 2 and clue 4 areas.
another error in row 7 of clue 4. just try and keep the pattern symmetrical and it will work out.
FINALLY .. its done …
i am not happy with the border pattern. i should have followed the original pattern. but what is done is done. we will see what it looks like when it is blocked. right now there is a lot of curling on the long width and i am hoping that blocking takes that out.
pre-blocked measurements:
37” spline x 72” width
post-blocked measurements:
38” spline x 81” width
not me in the pictures. it is my friend having fun modeling.
blocking didnt take out the tendency for the pattern to curl along the wide side. i had sc down the edge hoping to stiffen it a bit. but after blocking i went back and did a reverse sc (or what is called a crab stitch) down the long edge to further keep it from rolling.
i am delighted with how lacy the silver thread turned out. i had to actually spray it with heavy starch to keep its shape when hanging. for the first time, i really feel like i created lace. you can see how it drapes on her arm. just like really fine lace.
