Notes

I have several partial and full skeins of yarn to use up.

I am going to use:
1 strand of Lime Blossom (green/pink/cream)
+
1 strand of ecru
+
1 strands of Dusty Sage

This works pretty well with 3 strands.

Overview of reading pattern - I think this is worked in a spiral as the pattern NEVER says to join to the previous round.

It has an interesting way of joining a new color that I have not seen before. It will be fun to try.

This pattern is just a recipe.

For instance, how do you have 20 sc down each side of the starting chain without having any sc to turn around the end?

increasing twice at each end

This is in Round 2. Does it mean to increase 2 stitches (one increase) on each end or 4 stitches (two increases). I think it means the latter one but how do you do that when you don’t have any increase for going around the end of the chain?

I have always preferred a pattern that gives explicit instructions versus the recipe kind. When I am working a pattern, I just want to follow the instructions and not think too hard about it.

How to make this work
On Round 1, 2 sc in each end of the foundation chain for going around the end. 20 sc per side + 2 sc on each end.

This sets you up for Round 2 with 2 increases on each end. You can put an increase in each end sc.

After this, mark your side stitches and your increases carefully so that you can keep each side symmetrical.

I was going to make 2 oval rugs that matched but I cannot do that with this pattern. There is no way that I can match random increases to another rug unless I spent an inordinate amount of time documenting what I did. I will have to make a 2nd rug that is a different shape out of the same colors.

Frogging This

I have a width of 13.5 inches, length 23.5 inches.

I just cannot get it to lay flat. No matter what I do, it bubbles, it ripples, even on the straight sides. It’s not cupping. It’s like I have done too many increases, but even when I do less increases, it just won’t lay flat.

I am done trying. I do not want to work out how to do this by myself. I want to follow a pattern.
