Notes

Pattern size - seems to be almost square by the measurements

20 x 26 inches

Still on my New Year’s resolution to use up 1 bin of cotton craft yarn. This is Rug #3.

I have certain groups of color that I want to make use of the colors. Not sure how to do that yet with this pattern. lol … From what I can tell of the pattern, the only thing I can do is striping. I don’t think this pattern needs a border because the sides look “self finishing”.

Used 4 strands at a time. I would have preferred 5 but I am limited by having only 4 balls each of other colors.

Foundation ch 72 and 38 inches long.

The goal is for a rug that is about 36 inches wide or a little less. I believe the chain will shorten as I add the stitch pattern.

It seems the stitch pattern is 2n.

UK->US = tr -> dc, dc -> hdc

Row 1
My length after Row 1 is 32 inches.

Starts and ends with sl st.

Row 2
Starts and ends with hdc.

Row 3
Starts and ends with sl st.

Instructions say “sl st in next hdc” at the beginning of the row. This doesn’t make any sense. It should say to t-ch 1, sl st in first st, and then proceed with stitch pattern.

You cannot sl st into the first stitch without a t-ch 1. It looks really crappy if you try to skip the first st (which is a hdc) and go for the 3rd stitch which is the NEXT hdc.

2 rows green/blue
3 rows blueberry
6 rows bright blue
7 rows green/blue
6 rows bright blue
- stopped here to weave in 100 ends 7 rows blueberry
6 rows green/blue

Total of 37 rows

Row 82 seems to be an error. It’s a repeat of Row 81, complete with fasten off. On the project page for the designer’s project, the close-up picture of the top of the rug has only one row of dc.

OH! I get it. She left out the “turn and re-attach the yarn” to work a row of dc across the other end. Then the instructions make sense.

I am modifying from dc to sc for borders. I don’t have enough yarn to do dc on both sides.

I held together one strand of each color for the borders.

Now, I have 100s more ends to weave in and I am done.

Well, this is taking me longer than it should. I keep forgetting to periodically count the stitches across a row. And so, I short a stitch and then several rows later, I figure it out. Just me not paying attention to what I am doing because it is a 2-stitch repeat. Easy enough to do until you have to frog several rows …. several times….
