66 stitches after finishing the toe: Judy’s magic cast-on - 16 stitches, increasing 4x every round, 7x every 2nd round, then once after 3 rounds and once only on the top foot after another 3 rounds. Gusset: Increase 18x every 2nd row. Heel: Short rows over 30 meshes down to 10 normal stitches left. Then 18 pairs of decrease rows to get back to 66 stitches. Cuff: 1x1 ribbing with twisted knit stitches and using “Jeny’s surprisingly stretchy bind-off”.
Using helix knitting technique makes this a continuous knit without worrying about color jogs from row to row. It however has discontinuities at the beginning and end of the helix that I placed on the inside of the foot to make them less apparent.
