Started off with a tight two-colored Italian cast-on on a 2.5mm needle, switched to 3mm from the next row.
The corrugated ribbing gave me a headache at first as this is my first double knitting project and the instructions for that part were - confusing (I would say the colors A and B are somehow mixed up in the instructions). However after looking at the pictures how it should look like, I guess I figured it out and finally it’s not that complicated. Just a lot to think of in the first rows, then it gets a habit. Nothing you do while watching TV. I nearly missed midnight at New Year’s Eve over this
For the edges, I decided to do a slip stitch with both yarns held together (i.e. slip last double stitch with both yarns held in front, knit first stitch TBL (both colors together), start double knitting as usual with next pair of stitches. Like that result better than using the selvage as in the instructions, that turned out wonky for me.
Also started working in lifelines every 10 rows or so as I see the issues coming with loosing focus or getting sleepy now and then…

Decided to stop after the initials panel as I’m unhappy with the color combination. Holding the skeins next to each other the combination looks great but with the small pattern the “Atlantik” color turns into a plain green and the “zarte Knospe” into a yellow (at least in my eyes). Ordered a new color (“kristallig “, see pictures) to contrast the “Atlantik”. Crossing fingers this will work better. Will certainly find other use for the remaining “zarte Knospe”. Hope to be able to start over next weekend.
However the effort is not lost, I take it as a training session for the advanced double knitting techniques (corrugated ribbing, non-reversible double-knitting).

Started over with the new color combination and like it MUCH better

Made it until after the first block of the „Cornet and Drum“ (row 160) as my cat chewed both strands of yarn *sigh*. What’s the use of these large hanks if this little monster makes me sewing in ends anyhow? Can’t help it, still love her!
I also decided on omitting two pattern sections, the „Cornet“ and the „Midge and Flea - black“ and to rearrange the remaining ones so to keep the pattern rhythm. With my gauge the scarf will be approximately 175cm long, which I deem sufficient.

50% done! I work on other projects in parallel but pay attention not to neglect this one for too long. Being halfway through is quite motivating! Learned to inspect the progress in great detail every couple of row to catch errors early.

Less knitting in summer and other projects slowed down the progress on this one but I’m picking it up again to be ready for this winter. 65% done.

DONE! What a piece of patience. I‘ll wash & block it now and then post pictures.
The first picture shows the scarf worn over my Mia Sweater, also made with a strand of „kristallig“ along with Setasuri in white.
Later on the set got completed with Sanquhar gloves and Sanquhar ankle warmers and a Sanquhar hair clip.
