Halfway through clue 5 but still unsure if I will like the yarn for that project, should definitely stop buying colorways without knowing exactly what I want to use them for.

Project hibernated for a while. Picked it up again on my 9h transatlantic flight and got it pushed through the first row of clue 6.

Finished the pattern (the return flight did the trick). However, I’m really unhappy with the color scheme! 23g of yarn (skein 1) remain, mostly with blue shades which would balance the optics (at least I think so). But how to incorporate them? Using a solid color fingering weight yarn, I knit two sections of the pattern starting with clue 6 and improvised another couple of rows, ending with a garter stitch edge. The chart I came up with is added in the pictures. Please note that two wrong side rows requiring making stitches are included as I (very unprofessionally) had to make the pattern work this way. It’s my very first trial on designing lace and I’m really not knowing how to do it differently without starting over with a different approach. And anyhow, for my purpose, it works.
I’m also noting that I like a this pattern in a solid color much better than in the gradient one. Looks like I have to revisit this or a similar pattern at a later date.
Note to myself: stop buying gradient skeins without knowing what to use them for!

Knitting is finished! Let’s see if blocking can turn this ugly duckling into something decent…

Blocking did its magic, the lace opened and the too short and too long rows from before look just right now. I’m even a little more at peace with the colors now. Will find something light to wear and shoot some pictures if the sun ever comes out again…

Could finally take pictures wearing it
Final size is about 150cm x 75cm - just right for me.
