The antique pattern library is a magical place. This chart is from a French book published in 1890. I relied on the simple headband pattern to get the right size.

It’s comfortable, but stretches the design a bit on my admittedly big head. I gave it to someone with an average sized melon, on whom the design looks much better.

Construction:

• CO 4 extra dk stitches (meaning 8 total, alternating colors) to compensate for gauge.
• Five repeats of the pattern (16 stitches wide each)
