This was a blast to knit, and strangers kept approaching me with questions and encouragement whenever I was knitting in public. I also hosted my first KAL with this pattern, and seeing the participants’ FOs roll in is wonderful.

I started with an invisible two color cast on and bound off with kitchner. I made a few of my own charts using gimp/photoshop to supplement the pattern, which is new to me, especially the non-mirrored bits.

Changes :

• CO 43 so slip-stitch edge wouldn’t get in the way of the colorwork

• Two less rows in the blaster portions. Connected the dots to be a single long bolt.

• R2-D2 and C-3PO on one side, Imperial droids (interrogator, probe, and mouse) on the other.

• Changed the Aurebesh writing sections to non-mirrored Roman letters. “It’s a trap!” with a little Admiral Ackbar, other side is “That’s no moon…”

• Windows/cockpits for the Y-Wings and Tie fighters.

Notes to self for next time:

• C3PO fixes (proportions and details)

• Snow on the Tauntaun section?

• At least one more row between blasters and bolts. Or flip the pattern, only do one blaster and multiple bolts to save a little space.

• Try lightsabers one row thinner--use three stranded double knitting just for that portion to get them Jedi and Sith colors.

• Make ! longer in “It’s a trap!”
