Super fun pattern! Totally addictive. Easy to remember and do mindlessly, as well as customize. It’s brilliant! Double thick to prevent scorched fingertips, and you can modify the size by merely altering the number of chain stitches.

Worked on G hook with knitpicks dishie, rowan handknit, and lion kitchen cotton. with kpix dishie on G, i get 5” on the diagonal with 26 stitch chain.

I have tried a variety of seams and the cleanest i’ve found is a whipstitch picking up the outside leg of one stitch as well as the outside leg of the corresponding stitch.

Took a page from chitweed’s book and did the pink one with some spike stitches.

Updated 11/11/14 - I absolutely ADORE these!!! Not only have i been using them as hotpads/mitts, but they are also excellent at wiping up spills, tidying the counters, and such. A gazillion times better than those useless dishcloths and kitchen towels that don’t absorb anything. I hope to make more!

I also made some alternating back/front loop stitches. Makes a very nice texture. These are such nice “brainless” and useful items to make in between more complicated projects.
